Message received from Pat Simmons – March 2004

Dear Joe,

I finally managed to connect up to Scold and have a couple of items that may be of some interest to a very few people; at least it makes a change from death and retirement (which some people may think is synonymous).

Our eldest son, Alan decided just before his 46th birthday that it was time for him to get married (1st time) or at least engaged.  The lovely lady is Debbie Valdeon and we hope they will set the date soon.  They live in California in the LA area where Debbie is a nurse and Alan is a background artist for animated films and TV series.

The big event for the Simmons family last year was the wedding of second son, Ian and his lovely lady, Sue Brotherhood.

The wedding was held at a beautiful venue in Kent on a glorious day in August. It is the 2nd marriage for both of them, Ian being divorced and Sue, widowed.  The wedding cake was in two tiers, the top separate and to one side of the bottom where the figure of the groom was seated playing his guitar.  The bride on the top was rather disconsolately propped against a black object which turned out to be a Marshall Amplifier.  It was a truly happy day only marred by the fact that Alan and Debbie could not be there with us all.

Incidentally, David our youngest son and his lovely lady, Amanda celebrated their 17th anniversary shortly after the wedding.  They are parents to our three grandsons, Jeremy 13, Toby 12 and Peter 9.

Mike and I are reasonably well except for the aches which come from being 78 and 74 respectively.

Hope you can get more news from all those out there.

Regards from Mike and me, Pat
