THE SONG OF HIAWALPOLE

(A TRIBUTE TO A CHAIRPERSON NOT SO MUCH RETIRING AS RETIRED)

(With due acknowledgement to Longfellow)

[Written as a tribute to Audrey Walpole on her retirement as Chairperson of the Barnet Thirty-Plus Social Group and performed with musical accompaniment on July 17, 1985 Cast of characters appears at the end: click on the CAST button on left]

The midi music attached to each page bears no relationship to the musical accompaniment to the live performance in 1985 and, if viewers find it too intrusive, they are advised to left-click the volume control icon below and then click the "mute" box.

For those viewers who are interested in the midi accompaniment, I am describing it on each page, and crediting the source.  The music on this page is from Frederick Delius's first work of 1888, unpublished, entitled (appropriately) Hiawatha, in a special midi version produced by Bill Thompson.  It was not available at the time of the live performance, but by a weird piece of synchronicity I had chosen several Delius pieces on that occasion as they seemed to suit the lyrical Hiawatha theme so ideally.  It can be found on the Classical Midi Connection at
