PUNKS
Decades ago, many happy times were spent with the late Rob Ward, Vice-President of Sea Containers Inc's Marketing Division in London, devising humorous verse, limericks or (his favourites) Clerihews, about different staff members.
Sometimes the verses didn't fit into any of these standard formats and we described them as "junk". Occasionally they were a bit too good for junk and we adopted a new nomenclature for the ones that fell between the gap of poetry and junk.
We called these "punks". Eventually this term was used for anything which didn't fit into a recognisable form and we even started to invent new ones.
Some of these will be found by clicking on this link to the appropriate section of the Sea Containers' "Old Lags" site for which I am webmaster. Others may be discovered in the various digressions of other personnel in the Cast of Characters.
