PARODY ON COWPER'S THE THE CUP THAT CHEERS

Now stir the fire, and close the shutters fast,

Let fall the curtains, wheel the sofa round,

And while the bubbling and loud-hissing urn

Throws up a steamy column, and the cups,

That cheer  but not inebriate, wait on each,

So let us welcome peaceful evening in.

William Cowper, The Task (1785), Book IV, line 36.

ON ZOOM MEETINGS - THE WORDS ONE HEARS

Now lend an ear, and harken to the sound

That someone else’s words add to debate.

And if you can restrain impatient need

To add your worthwhile (or your worthless)

Comments to the wealth of wisdom here displayed,

You may learn something to enhance your futile life.
