Sea Containers Old Lags' Domain

The Sea Containers Old Lags Domain (SCOLD) website was launched in February 2003, primarily as a means of communication and a source of information to alumni and friends of Sea Containers. There are more than five thousand Old Lags (ex-staff, ex-agents, and old friends) around the world. The list includes alumni as far back as 1966

PLEASE READ THIS COLUMN FIRST

PLEASE CHECK OUT THE LATEST ADDITIONS TO THE CORRESPONDENCE SECTION.

NOTE ALSO THAT WE HAVE ADDED LINKS FROM THE MAIN DATABASE SECTION TO CORRESPONDENCE (WHERE IT EXISTS) AND (IN MANY CASES) PICTURES OF ALUMNI.

WE HAVE ALSO APPENDED PICTURES TO SOME OF THE CORRESPONDENCE.

PICTURES HAVE MAINLY BEEN FOUND IN OUR ARCHIVES AND MAY BE UP TO 30 YEARS OLD.  REMIND YOURSELF OF HOW YOU (AND YOUR COLLEAGUES) LOOKED BACK THEN.  IF YOU WISH US TO REPLACE ANY OF THE PICTURES, PLEASE LET US HAVE YOUR PICS (IN JPEG FORMAT) BY EMAIL TO THE ADDRESS SHOWN IN THE CONTACTS SECTION.

CHECK OUT THE NEW PICTURE GALLERIES AND SEE IF YOU CAN RECOGNISE YOURSELF THERE.  AND, IF SO, PLEASE LET US KNOW, AND TELL US WHAT YOU ARE DOING NOW.

THANKS ARE DUE TO THOSE "OLD LAGS" WHO HAVE SENT  INFORMATION VIA THE SEA CONTAINERS FACEBOOK GROUP.

PLEASE CONTINUE TO SEND US YOUR NEWS.

We have been informed of several deaths, the most recent being Robin I'Anson.

 We would appreciate more information.

Obituaries if possible, but at least dates.

November 2009Access to this site was renewed via Joe Sinclair's personal website.

The Domain Name SCOLD was allowed to expire in 2004 as a consequence of the lack of support from potential contributors of material and lack of interest in paying the (albeit small) fee for renewal.

Several expressions of regret in the "demise" of the site and of interest in seeing it renewed resulted in this initiative.

It does need support in the form of information about the whereabouts and activities of past and current members of the Sea Containers' organisation.

The following notices are repeated from the earlier version of the SCOLD site.

August 11, 2003 -  We have added a Notice Board section. Please let us have any items you wish to submit (subject to their passing obscenity and libel laws) and we will be happy to include them.

DIRECTORY -   The main database now has more than 250 names.

The directory is continually updated, but very little information is being provided.

Considering that the number of staff members who have passed through the Sea Containers portals over the years must now run into four figures, we are clearly missing a great many of them.

Please bring this website to the notice of any past Sea Containers staff you may know and ask them to contact us.
